The results of gammaCore therapy vary from person to person and sadly will not work for everyone. One study showed that 39% of menstrual migraine sufferers benefited from using gammaCore as a preventive therapy. These patients reported; a reduction in the number of menstrual migraine days or menstrual related migraine symptoms, the use of less pain-relief medications, having reduced intensity of headaches and having a reduced disability associated with migraine.
In other studies the acute use of gammaCore at migraine onset provided relief for more than 50% of attacks reported, with almost half of the patients reporting little to no migraine pain within 2 hours after first use.
The most commonly reported side effects present during the act of stimulating the vagus nerve with gammaCore and resolve immediately after the stimulation is complete. These include but are not limited to:
- Application site discomfort, irritation and redness
- Local pain, face/head/neck area (including toothache)
- Muscle twitching and/or contractions
- Tingling, pricking, or a feeling of “pins and needles” on the skin where the device is applied.

No. gammaCore Sapphire devices are single patient use only and therefore once purchased become the property of the purchaser. The internal lithium battery life of the device is 3 years from first use and so subsequent courses of therapy are purchased and loaded onto the device by electronic transfer. Unless faulty (indicated by an error code) you are not required to return the device to us. Should you choose to stop using gammaCore please dispose of the device with other battery-operated electrical devices using your nearest recycling/battery collection point.
Contact electroCore UK Customer Service at email@example.com if you have questions about the appropriate disposal of this device.
Yes, it is safe to travel with gammaCore. gammaCore contains a lithium battery, we recommend storing gammaCore in your carry-on luggage to assure it is not exposed to extreme temperature changes.
Starter kits contain all the equipment you need to first start using gammaCore therapy. Refill kits should only be purchased following your initial Starter kit order. Once you have a device, this is yours and you only need to buy refill kits (courses of therapy) thereafter. Both the starter kit and refill kit come with sufficient gel to be used when delivering a stimulation.
Therapy is loaded onto a device using the refill cards. The system utilises similar technology as contactless card payment, where the refill cards are presented on the face of the device and held in place until therapy is received by the device.
No, the online questionnaire is currently only available in the UK.
